Rough cut and feedback

Rough Cut and Feedback | Wonder

Animation so far, I have included the music in the background but have completed the animation with the time I had left. I think it could maybe use some more detail from spending more time with it but so far I am happy with the overall result.
I would have liked to have added some additional audio possibly to do with the voices, voiceovers would have made it much better so if I had have more time then I would have tried to do that instead of writing the words out.

The soundtrack

Sound Track Creation | Project 3 | Wonder

About
This lesson we decided to dedicate our time to creating a soundtrack that could be used as the theme music and or background music to our final animation, moreover using and manipulating multiple audio clips in garageband I was able to create a useful and well laid out sound track.

Genre /Style
I chose the mix up and compilation of genre's and style I did because I believed that they would work well with the animation overall and ensuring it was completed according with the relevant house style and finish. Retaining house style is important within any project because it is the fundamental building blocks towards putting together a finished project.

Relevance
The soundtrack has relevance to the project as the story is about adventure and drama for example there is sudden change between each verse that plays relevance to the overall narrative of an adventurer and a lost snowman.

Animation Process

P2 /M1: Animation Process Write Up

The Animation Process

  • The art director will develop a style and create a predominant house style. characters and environments. Most of these pictures showing what everything will look like would be drawn, but it really depends on who is designing, and if it is a group of people or just one person.

  • The director and producer will then cast the voices for each character until getting what is needed. The chosen voice actors will then study the script, trying to get what they want. sometimes it is all recored in a day, sometimes it can go for days, once again it is up to the vision of the director and producer. The editor will then create a sound track example to show a representation of each character.

  • From the original drawings and designs, modellers will begin to make CG examples and skeletons of the characters so the animator can move each joints creating realistic movement.

  • Working on things like layout and timings are next. although the first real show of timing is form the storyboards whilst keeping in mind camera movements, shot types, moods and other visual information. Ones completed, the layouts will be shot and made into a 'layout reel' or edited into the perviously made storyboard. In the making of larger, more structured and expensive products there will be often two phases, rough and final.

  • The animation can now begin as all the assets needed to go with it are done with exception to the backgrounds. Scenes will be assigned to specific animators by the director. As each scene is completed the director will approve it and will then be added to the real to be viewed in context. each scene will built up to create an almost completed running animation. Effect animations will be added after all is complete.

  • The backgrounds will be created and added now as they are made and overseen by the art director. When using CG, basic sets will be built up by modellers, then after set dressing will be added for more detail. With 2D animation, the backgrounds will be in some cases scanned in and cleaned up on the computers on just made onto the computers to remove the cleaning up and scanning stage.

Opening Sequence

Opening Sequence Storyboard | Project 2 | Wonder

1:1 - FADING LONG SHOT - Title fades in and appears on screen. Back ground to the project is present.

1:2 - FADING LONG SHOT - Title still present, animated by fades in.

1:3 - FADING LONG SHOT - Title fade out animation begins.

1:4 - LONG SHOT - Character steps into frame and animation begins.

Animation Process Writeup
To create the final animation we went through a number of steps involving the use of multiple pieces of software including Toon Boom for the actual animation and premier pro from Adobe for the final edit.

1 Pre Filming Work - From the shot list and storyboards choose which scenes that we are going to shoot in Long Road Grounds.

2 Filming Day - On the filming day follow the plan on what we had originally planned to shoot and get all the shots that we had wanted

3 Filming Day Assessment - Assess the filming day and choose which shots we wish to use.

4 Animation Process - Import the clips into the ToonBoom software and start to create each layer and frame layout. From which start to draw over each of the frames from the video.

5 Editing and Exporting - From the animation software export the final raw clips and import them into Premier Pro editing software to compile them correctly in the correct order with sufficient credits and audio track added.

Measures to reduce risk +impact
Risk after measures taken

The use of a DSLR camera

Med

When filming the camera could be dropped which
would cause it to break. To make sure that the camera is not damaged in any way we will use the strap around our necks when filming to make sure that if it is dropped then it wouldn’t fall to the ground. We will also make sure that when the camera is not in use we will put the lens cap on to make sure that the lens doesn’t get damaged.

Low

The use of a tripod

Med

When using a tripod there are many risks that need to be taken into consideration. Due to the fact that we are filming in college its going to busy when we are filming so leaving a tripod out could be a liability as people may not see it and trip over it. We are going to make sure that the tripod is only up when its being used and when its not being used we will put it down and put it back in the bag and carry the bag which means that people will not fall over it and it will be not laying around the floor whilst we are filming.

Weather conditions

Med

Parts of the filming are done outside which means we need to take the weather into consideration. If it starts to rain whilst we are filming this could cause a lot od damage to the equipment that we are using. We are planning ahead and have checked the weather, which is supposed to be nice and sunny on the 15th May.

Low
Consent form others around the college if they are in the background footage
Med

Due to the fact that we are filming in college means that there are a lot of people walking around the college. We need to make sure that anyone who is shown in the footage has given their consent to appear in the animation. To show people that we are filming and to make sure that they don’t just walk in front of the camera in the middle of the shoot we will be wearing high visablity jackets whilst filming. We will also use a filming in progress sign, which will be up around the area to show that we are filming at that moment in time.

Low

The use of a laptop

Med

Using a laptop could give us many risks that we need to take into consideration. We will be using a laptop to log the footage and to also rotoscope the footage after it has been filmed and logged. To make sure that no damage to caused to us or the laptops we will make sure that food or drink is not consumed in the area and also that when carrying the laptops to and from the fridge we will use both hands and not carry lots of things are once.

Low

Tripping over wires

Med

To make sure that no one trips over any wires we will make sure that they aren’t just dragging all over the floor when we are editing the footage. If a wire does have to sit along the floor we will put a sign up next to it to make sure everyone is aware of this and is carful when in the room.

The audio of Wonder

The Audio | Wonder

Why I chose it
I chose to include a soundtrack in the background of our animation that would set the scene and narrative moreover I wanted to tell the story of the animation through the music more than what will been seen on the screen by the viewer.
The soundtrack is a slow tempo music piece that tells a story very well for example there is a change of beat and tempo throughout for each scene that tells the narrative very well.
I chose to include this music because I feel that it best described the scenes that were happening and best outlaid the narrative for the whole piece moreover the movements of the music and the too and from the

What Music I chose
We chose to find a royalty free piece of music through a popular royalty free composers website which was http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/.
I chose to use music from this website because it is already a trusted source for royalty free music moreover the majority of amateur short films and student projects use the site.

Adobe Photoshop Editing Screenshot
This was the first initial stages of the animation in which we had decided to use Photoshop to rotoscope the animation prior to using ToonBoom to edit the final animation. This was the first stages of rotoscoping, we used the frames that we drew in this photoshop document in the final edit combined with the frames rotoscoped using the ToonBoom software.
The first stage was to import the video clips into photoshop in which photoshop then converts them into individual frames that can be drawn over individually.
From there on we drew over each frame ensuring that the layer and timeline matched at the bottom and right hand side of the screen.
Once the frames were draw round and the correct frame rates were set we could then export the final animation into a moving image product breaking it up by different scenes and compiling it in premiere.
